Wrecks in Dakar

Dakar’s peninsula will allow you to discover many wrecks. A governmental program, started in the beginning of the 80’s, played an important role in sinking many commercial boats on sandy zones. The goal was to create artificial reefs to encourage the development of marine life. The other goal, more ecological, is to prevent trawling in coastal zones.

The majority of boats which were sunk are located between 30 and 60 meters deep, a few around 20 meters.

The basic scuba level necessary to enjoy these dives in Advanced Openwater or Level 2 diver. We organize special weeks for groups to discover Senegal underwater landscapes including many wrecks located from Ngor Island to the Mbao wreck cemetery.

A lot of wreck dives will leave from our dive center in Soumbedioune.
